About the Programme

Programme Objectives

To provide foundational pedagogical knowledge for educators in community-based education centres so as to carry out their roles and duties effectively within the context of their classroom. 

Programme Overview
The programme consists of 5 modules (120 instructional hours) to provide foundation knowledge for participants in pedagogy and learning, assessment, and classroom management skills.
  1. TLMT001 Teaching and Pedagogical Approaches (30 hours)
  2. TLMT002 Lesson Design and Delivery (24 hours)
  3. TLMT003 Assessment and Monitoring in Evaluating Student Learning (24 hours)
  4. TLMT004 Classroom Management Skills (24 hours)
  5. TLMT005 Understanding the Learner (18 hours)

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum of GCE ‘A’ Level certificate or equivalent 
  • For GCE ‘A’ Level Holders (for Examinations taken in Year 2006 or before)
    • Passes in at least two subjects at ‘A’ level and two subjects at ‘AO’ level including a pass in General Paper (English) taken at one and the same sitting of the examination.
  • For GCE ‘A’ Level Holders (for Examinations taken from Year 2007 onwards)
    • Passes in at least two subjects at H2 level and two subjects at H1 level including a pass in General Paper (or Knowledge and Inquiry at H2 level) taken at one and the same sitting of the examination.
  • Registered educator with Mendaki Sense. 
 The maximum period of candidature is 2 years.

Requirements

Participants are required to complete all five modules for a total of 120 hours under the Certificate in Teaching and Learning for Community Educators programme. Participants must satisfy all requirements for a pass grade in every module of the programme for consideration of completion of programme. 

Participants will be formatively assessed throughout each course, but will also undergo a final summative assessment which may be in the form of one or more of these: an assignment / personal project / presentation. Late submissions of assignments will affect your grade.

A minimum attendance of 80% is required for each module. Attendance during the programme forms part of the requirements towards the award of the Certificate. Please note that approved absences would also be included in the computation of attendance percentages.

Participants who satisfy all the above requirements will be awarded the Certificate in Teaching and Learning by the National Institute of Education (NIE).

 

Course Fees

The full course fee is S$1,920 (excluding 7% GST).

Course fee must be paid in full to NIE International before the commencement of the programme.

 

Mode of Payment

Payment can be made using crossed cheque made payable to 'NIE International Pte Ltd'.

Upon acceptance and placement into the programme, participants will be informed and the full payment of the course fees is to be made within 1 week from notification to confirm the placement for the programme.

 

Registration

Please follow the instructions on the right to register for the course. Applicants will receive an email of confirmation upon successful registration. Where the number of registrations exceeds the number of places available, applicants will be placed on a reserve list. In the event that enrolment falls short of the required number of participants for each class, the course may be cancelled and applicants will be enrolled in the next scheduled course.
